About our gems
What is moissanite?
Moissanite was discovered by Henri Moissan from a meteor crater in 1893. (That’s right, you are wearing something out of this world!) It’s a naturally occurring silicon carbide mineral.
However, most moissanites sold today are lab-grown because it is extremely rare in nature. Being lab-grown, they can have very ideal characteristics, giving you the most brilliant gem for your engagement ring.
Moissanite vs diamonds: What is the difference?
It is extremely difficult to tell moissanite apart from diamonds because of its close resemblance. Virtually all areas of the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat) of moissanite are identical to a diamond, making it an extremely popular alternative; costing only 1/10 of the price.
Even jewellery experts have a hard time telling them diamonds and moissanites apart using the naked eye. They will need to closely examine it using a loupe and find the double refraction of moissanite.
1. Fire and Brilliance (how much it sparkles)
Fire (coloured flashes) and brilliance (white flashes) occur in both diamonds and moissanites. These properties give the gems their sparkle when you look at them. Having a higher reflective index and fire dispersion, moissanite sparkles more than diamonds. This is especially pronounced during the day in sunlight where you can see the rainbow flashes emitted by moissanite.
2. Hardness
Diamonds are the hardest gem known to men, having a Mohs scale of 10. Moissanites are the second hardest gem known to men, having a Mohs scale of 9.25-9.5. This gives both gems high durability that lasts a lifetime.
Are luna's gems certified?
Yes, all our gems above 0.5 carats are graded by GRA.
Difference in carat weight for moissanite and diamond
Moissanites are roughly 10% lighter than diamonds. This means that for a similar-sized 6.5mm 1 carat diamond, the equivalent 6.5mm moissanite will be approximately 0.90 carat. That said, this difference does not bear significance as it is indistinguishable by the naked eye.
luna uses the conventional diamond equivalent carat when describing our moissanite gems to give you the best approximation of the gem’s size.
Returns, shipping and warranty
What is luna's return policy?
We are confident that you will love our jewellery. Therefore, we offer a 30 days return policy for a refund or an exchange. This includes free return shipping if you are in Singapore.
If you are outside of Singapore, you will need to handle the return and shipping of the jewellery to our office.

What is luna's warranty policy?
Every ring comes with a complimentary 1-year warranty. An extended warranty can also be purchased during or after you complete your purchase. Click here to find out more.
This warranty is included for customers outside of Singapore. For customers outside of Singapore, you will need to handle the return and shipping of the jewellery to our office.
What are your shipping times?
We take pride that our rings are handmade, making each ring unique from every other. Because of this, it will take around 2-3 weeks for your order to arrive.
What is the cost of shipping?
Shipping is free for all orders in and outside of Singapore.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! We do ship internationally to all countries in the world. The best part, we offer free international shipping.
Customers outside of Singapore will receive tracked shipping in 2-3 weeks after an order has been placed, once the jewellery has been shipped.
It may take 1.5 months for the order to arrive depending on the country. This is due to the manufacturing time of the rings (around 2-3 weeks) and the processing time of the shipping.
Ring and ring sizes
What if I need to resize my ring?
We know its hard to get your ring size right. Therefore, we offer a free one-time resizing during the first year of purchase. This includes free return shipping if you are in Singapore. Just contact support and we will get it sorted for you.
What if I have problems with my ring?
All rings come with at least a 1-year warranty. If you are looking for any of the services below, simply contact support and we will be glad to help with your issue.
- Resetting of stone

- Jewellery cleaning (maximum of once a year)
Where are your rings manufactured?
All our rings are handmade and manufactured in Singapore. We take pride in the quality of our rings, which is why we took a large amount of effort to find the best artisanal craftsmen to craft the perfect ring for you.
Can you engrave my ring?
Yes! We offer free engravings for all rings bought from luna.

luna does not have any retail outlet at the moment. We only sell through our online shop so that we can pass on the savings to you!
